Run this list before launch, then test again on the real domain. Ask someone unfamiliar with the project to complete the main action.

Pre launch checklist

  1. Proofread every page and confirm names, phone numbers, addresses, hours, prices, and policies.

  2. Test navigation, buttons, forms, downloads, phone links, email links, and external links.

  3. Check layouts on a small phone, large phone, tablet, laptop, and wide screen.

  4. Compress images, add useful alt text, and remove unused media.

  5. Set unique page titles and descriptions; confirm one clear H1 per page.

  6. Create a helpful 404 page and test likely mistyped URLs.

  7. Connect analytics and conversion tracking with appropriate consent controls.

  8. Verify the domain, HTTPS, redirects, canonical URLs, robots.txt, and XML sitemap.

  9. Connect Search Console and submit the sitemap after launch.

  10. Check accessibility: keyboard use, focus styles, labels, contrast, headings, and reduced motion.

  11. Back up the prior site and record DNS, platform, account, and renewal ownership.

  12. After launch, test the live site again and monitor forms, indexing, speed, and errors.

Put it to work

A launch is a handoff into maintenance, not the finish line. Schedule a one week and one month review before you celebrate.
